AMARILLO, TX – Entering their best-of-seven Southern Conference Semi-Finals series Friday night, it would have been difficult to pit two more evenly-matched teams against one-another than the Gorillas and Odessa Jackalopes. The Southwest Division-rivals were 7-7-0 in head-to-head meetings during the 2005-2006 regular season, with each squad going 5-2-0 on home-ice. Moreover, 11 of the 14 games were decided by two goals or fewer and penalty minutes were almost always low, the teams averaging a combined 44 minutes per game throughout the 64-game campaign. In Game One, people had no reason to expect anything else – but that is about the last thing the crowd of 2,944 fans at the Cal Farley Coliseum received.

The assistant captain Ewasko highlighted the penalty-minute parade with 32 all by himself, earning a match-penalty for an attempt to injure, also garnering him a suspension for Games Two and Three of the series. He is the only player to this point expected to miss time........
