Just wanted to congratulate the Jr. Gorillas Pee Wee team that won 8-0 over McKinney tonight at the Fall RoundUp Tournament in Dallas.

Kyle went to the rink early to watch his "hometown team" (he was born in Amarillo after all). He was impressed with them and proud that they played so well.

El Tigre informed me that Dan McNeill has found a home with the Louisiana team in the SPHL. When confirming that move I noticed that he joins former Gorilla goaltender A.J. Bucchino there.

According to pointstreak we signed Chris Cloud, a forward that spent the last few years in the WHL. He's listed at 5-11 and 186, and according to hockeyfights.com he's averaged about 15 fights a year, so sounds like he'll add a little grit. Maybe he's a young Brian Pellerin

Well, we couldn't have hoped for a much better start to the season. I've only been able to watch on chl.tv, but it's clear we have a better talent level this year, not to mention the high energy-level we are playing with. Having a couple of legit goaltenders helps a ton too, obviously. For you folks that saw the games in person, what are your thoughts?

It appears that Bert Malloy and D.J. Delbuono did not make the final cut. Both seemed like real good young men and I wish them well. Pointstreak lists what appears to be the 19 players that we start 2009-'10 with.

In goal we have 2: Brown and Lohtander

We appear to have 7 defensemen: Aldoff, Brennan, Jernberg, McNeill, Obermeyer, Smale, and Smith

That leaves 10 forwards: Battaglia, Bell, Chafe, Guay, Guenther, Hill, MacRae, Morissette, Nimmo, and Sutter

Yesterday a lot of teams in the CHL made some cuts. The ones that I found most notable are:

Defense:

Pascal Bedard - A puck-moving and scoring defenseman just a few games shy of veteran status.
Rob Chappell - A very tough stay-at-home defenseman with junior ties to Sutts.

Offense:

Jamie Carroll - A young high scoring forward proven in the IHL, but currently without a home in the CHL.
